Major Mustapha and Diarrhea of the Mouth

While I am a little bit worried about Al Mustapha’s recent repentance and his seemingly newfound love for telling only the “truth” and nothing but the “truth,” I will not be quick to discard his assertions and claims as diarrhea of the mouth. He has made some serious allegations, it is my humble opinion that those whose names were mentioned should face the Nigeria law, weak and corrupt as it may be. GEJ, if he is to be taken serious, must as a matter of urgency, constitute an August body to look into the allegations against Abdulsami Abubkar and the Afeniferes. You cannot hate the dirty water in the bathtub so much that you throw it away with the child. We do not have to like Al Mustapha, but what he says bothers on national unity, we should take it serious until otherwise proven. The man occupied a vantage position under Abacha and immediately after Abacha before he was thrown into jail. He had access to sacred information. If he choose to avail us of those information now, my submission is that it is never too late to investigate the matter and put doubts to rest once for all, granted, some of the named actors are resting either in peace or in pieces in the hereafter, but we still have heavy weight actors and directors among us. We need to hear their side of the story and met out punishments or absorb them of the allegations.
If we fail to take the chance that AL Mustapha is giving us to assuage for our sins of silence when Abiola died, history and posterity will not see us positively.

The interesting thing about this whole saga is that, Major Mustapha has made these allegations in the past, in his appearance at the Justice Oputa human right panel in Lagos, Major Mustapha did not name names but he said that some top Nigerians conspired to kill the late Chief M.K.O. Abiola following Abacha's death, "to balance the equation". This smirks of what happened at the first Nigerian coup by Nzeogwu and co. In his third appearance at the same panel, he added “there were some powerful forces within and outside the military that wanted Abiola dead at all cost soon after Abacha's death. Yet, he did not name names. Since the man has found the courage to name names this time, I think that Nigeria need to listen and take the right step, this may lead to righting the wrong and assuage the feeling of the aggrieved, by bringing closure to the matter.

Some pundits argues that Major Mustapha is changing the topic, here we are trying him about Kudirats death and the man is changing the topic by bringing up issues of Abiola and Abacha. I will posit that both issues are linked; Abiola died trying to actualize his mandate, Kudirat died trying to focus attention on the death of his husband and his mandate. Both were allegedly murdered.

On whether, Mustapha is telling the truth about the bribe and the complicity of the Afenifere, only a thorough independent investigation into the matter can reveal the facts. The manner in which Abiola died as enumerated by his chief security, tells us that he was killed in collusion with foreigners, we hear that there were two white men where he died. I am reminded of the jackals in the “Confessions of an Economic Hitman”. I am reminded of the Noriega, Jaime Roldos of Ecuador and many more who were either killed or jailed for daring to ask that Corporatocracy do the right thing by their people! Could they have killed Abiola because he understands the politics of the west? I am just thinking aloud. The level of corruption mentioned by Major Mustapha, is exactly what the Corporatocracy would do any day to get their way in any developing country.
Al-Mustapha also opined that he had both audio and video evidence on the suspicious deaths of Abiola and Abacha; can someone post the tapes online for us to listen to and make our own decision on whether Mustapha is telling the truth or otherwise.

Major Mustapha, has accused ex-head-of-state Abdulalami Abubakar of witch hunting him because he knows too much, he said, “My incarceration was as a result of a script written and acted out by former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, to further keep me in prison. First were the events that happened after the murder of General Sani Abacha and late Chief MKO Abiola. For fear that I may divulge information that led to their death, they have to keep me in prison till date, adding that there are document (s) to prove that shortly after the death of Abiola, Abubakar allegedly ordered that huge amount of money should be withdrawn from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Major Mustapha claimed that $200 million, £75 million and N500 million were withdrawn from the CBN and used to soften or mitigate the tension championed by South-West leaders after the death of Abiola. (I am wondering; is this part of the funds, we accuse Abacha of stealing.)
Mustapha went further to tell the court that all visitations to Abiola were on tape. These are incontrovertible claims; can someone make these tapes available to us online?

Observers and pundits are already writing Mustapha off as fraud who is trying to save his neck and win sympathy, be that as it may, it does not take away from the fact that this allegation needs to be investigated. They mare fact that he is not on trial for the death of Abiola and Abacha, only make the point relevant in my opinion. Try him for Kudirats death by all means, but do not ignore his claims about the death of Abiola and the parts played by “eminent” persons dead or alive. After the death of Abacha, Abdulsalami had a golden chance to release Abiola and hand over power he did not. WHY? Abacha accused Abiola of treason, we all believed different, what was Abdulsalami’s position.

Well, if we cannot investigate Abdulsalami for the death of Abiola, lets investigate him for the alleged stupendous and inexplicable funds withdrawn from the CBN as claimed by Major. Mustapha.
